FBR Forms Grievance Committee for IR Oversight

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has unveiled the establishment of a grievance redressal committee to supervise the deputation of Inland Revenue (IR) officials at factories and manufacturing premises. This committee will oversee production processes and clearances under its mandate as outlined in section 40B of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.

A notification issued on Friday by the FBR confirmed that the committee will commence operations immediately.

The committee comprises Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, Member (IR-Operations) FBR; Mir Badshah Khan Wazir, Member (Legal-IR) FBR; Javed Iqbal, Chief (ST-Operations) FBR, serving as Secretary; Atif Ikram Sheikh, President FPCCI; Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI); and Mian Abdurar Shad, President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The FBR stressed that the committee’s role centers on resolving grievances and scrutinizing actions by field formations to ensure seamless execution of section 40B of the Sales Tax Act.

This measure aligns with the FBR’s ongoing efforts to streamline operations and uphold robust oversight of business premises nationwide.
