LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has dismissed Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited (HACL)’s bid to transfer its case against the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), setting October 13, 2025, as the date for final arguments.
HACL, accused of consumer exploitation through premium payments, delayed deliveries, and price escalations, contested the CCP’s jurisdiction to investigate its practices.
The court rejected HACL’s request to shift the case and directed both parties to proceed with arguments on the merits without further delays.
CCP’s counsel informed the court that the inquiry, initiated in 2018, has been stalled since 2023 due to HACL’s legal tactics, but assured completion within six months once the stay is lifted.
Despite five official notices issued between 2018 and 2022, Honda failed to fully cooperate, instead filing multiple petitions to delay proceedings.
With over 15 hearings and adjournments, the case is now poised for a final ruling next month.
The CCP asserts it had a valid quorum when launching the inquiry, which examines potential violations of Sections 3 and 4 of the Competition Act, 2010.
The Commission aims to set a precedent for consumer rights and fair competition in Pakistan’s auto sector, now comprising 13 carmakers, up from just three when the investigation began.
