LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) amassed Rs66.41 billion in tax revenue during the first quarter of FY2025–26, reflecting a robust 28% surge from Rs51.98 billion collected in the corresponding period last year.
Additionally, the PRA gathered Rs1.7 billion through the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess.
A PRA spokesperson emphasized that this growth was achieved without imposing new taxes or increasing existing rates. The authority has intensified efforts to broaden the tax net by launching a sweeping crackdown on unregistered service providers. Enforcement teams have been deployed to identify non-compliant businesses, conduct field surveys, and issue immediate notices to ensure adherence.
As part of new tax reforms, the PRA introduced a streamlined online registration system to simplify compliance for the business community. All service providers are now mandated to integrate their operations with the E-IMS system and submit monthly sales tax returns promptly. Businesses failing to register by the month’s end will face penalties and legal action.
The ongoing registration campaign seeks to boost revenue collection, expand the tax base, enhance business transparency, and strengthen economic documentation across Punjab.
