CCP Fines Transport Associations Rs5M for Price-Fixing

| 15-Oct-2025

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has levied a Rs5 million fine on both the Transporters of Goods Association (TGA) and Local Goods Transport Association (LGTA) for breaching Section 4 of the Competition Act 2010, which bans agreements that restrict competition or fix prices.

The CCP Bench, comprising Chairman Dr. Kabir Sidhu and Member Bushra Naz, calculated the penalty in line with the Commission’s Guidelines on Imposition of Financial Penalties, designed to underscore the gravity of such infringements and deter future violations.

The CCP determined that both associations orchestrated rate-fixing via collective discussions and circulars, barring individual transporters from setting independent prices.

The associations must remit the penalty within 30 days.
