Rs750 Prize Bond Draw Held; FBR Updates Tax Rates

MUZAFFARABAD: The National Savings Division held the balloting for Rs750 prize bonds on Wednesday, where hundreds of participants secured prizes under Pakistan’s enduring savings and reward scheme.

Official results confirmed the first prize of Rs1,500,000 to bond number 953346, while three second-prize winners of Rs500,000 each received bond numbers 294897, 651248, and 965105. Additionally, 1,696 participants claimed the third prize of Rs9,300 each.

Overseen by the Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) since the 1960s, the prize bond scheme offers a secure investment option for millions, blending savings with cash reward opportunities. Partnering with the State Bank of Pakistan, it remains a pillar of small-scale savings nationwide.

This Muzaffarabad draw aligns with the 2025 schedule announced earlier. Forthcoming Rs1,500 bond draws are set for May 15 in Karachi, August 15 in Faisalabad, and November 17 in Rawalpindi. Rs750 bonds will follow on July 15 in Rawalpindi and October 15 in Muzaffarabad, while Rs200 bonds are scheduled for June 16 in Quetta, September 15 in Multan, and December 15 in Lahore. Rs100 bonds draws occur on May 15 in Sialkot, August 15 in Lahore, and November 17 in Hyderabad.

These nationwide events foster formal savings and investment culture while offering prize-winning chances.

Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has updated withholding tax rates on prize bond winnings and profit on debt, effective July 2025. Filers face 15% tax, while non-filers incur 30%, per an official notification. The revision promotes tax compliance and fair taxation on national savings earnings.
