ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) has fired off a third urgent letter to the federal ministers for finance and national food security, demanding immediate intervention to resolve the shutdown of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s S-Track portal, which has crippled sugar sales.
A PSMA spokesperson revealed that the association has relentlessly flagged the portal closure’s devastating impact on sugar distribution. Multiple letters have beseeched the ministers to compel the FBR to reactivate the portal, lift restrictions, and enable seamless sugar transfers from mills to markets.
The spokesperson underscored the portal’s erratic on-off cycles over recent weeks—an unprecedented disruption—intensifying the industry’s mounting challenges.
