ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Tuesday greenlit a resolution prolonging the Virtual Assets Ordinance, 2025 (No. VII) by 120 days, securing its enforcement past November 5, 2025.
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar tabled the resolution, invoking Article 89(2)(a)(ii) of the Constitution as legal anchor.
The extension safeguards regulatory continuity in Pakistan’s digital finance and virtual assets ecosystem until Parliament forges permanent legislation.
Officials stressed the breathing room enables rigorous review, stakeholder consultations, and alignment with global standards on digital assets and anti-money laundering.
Launched earlier 2025, the Ordinance establishes licensing, supervision, and taxation for crypto and digital financial instruments, catapulting Pakistan into digital economy modernization.
