ISLAMABAD: Weekly inflation, tracked via the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), surged 0.53% for the combined group in the week ending November 13, per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data.
The SPI jumped to 335.31 from 333.55, with a 4.15% YoY spike. Based on 2015-16, the index monitors 51 essentials across 17 urban centers.
Lowest income group (≤Rs17,732) saw 0.35% rise; higher brackets (Rs17,733–22,888, Rs22,889–29,517, Rs29,518–44,175, >Rs44,175) recorded 0.43%, 0.44%, 0.51%, 0.58% respectively.
15 items (29.41%) soared, 12 (23.53%) fell, 24 (47.06%) stable.
Top risers: chicken (+20.33%), tomatoes (+12.03%), bananas (+2.32%), LPG (+1.97%), potatoes (+1.08%). Top fallers: onions (-6.65%), pulse gram (-2.61%), powdered salt (-1.80%), gur (-1.78%), sugar (-1.07%).
YoY: ladies’ sandals (+55.62%), sugar (+40.25%), gas Q1 (+29.85%), wheat flour (+18.70%). YoY drops: garlic (-36.29%), pulse gram (-29.89%), electricity Q1 (-26.26%), tomatoes (-23.01%).
