ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has greenlit Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS) to swallow Total System Services LLC (TSYS) from Global Payments Inc., declaring the mega fintech merger zero threat to Pakistan’s competition landscape.
FIS dominates core banking software, while TSYS serves card-processing for a handful of banks—two different lanes, no overlap, no dominance, no red flags.
CCP stamped the deal under Section 31(1)(d)(i) of the Competition Act, 2010, paving the way for bigger, bolder innovation in Pakistan’s digital payments and banking ecosystem without anti-competitive fallout.
