SUB: ACCEPTANCE OF INDEMNITY BOND AND POST DATED CHEQUES UNDER SECTION 86 OF THE CUSTOMS ACT, 1969.
In view of circular No. 09/2005 dated 29.06.2005, the office Order of-even number dated 02.04.2004 is hereby cancelled and the following new procedure for processing of G.D. for bond is prescribed:-
I Importer/Clearing agent shall file their G.Ds for bonds directly to Customer Services Center for manifestation and allotment of machine:-
II After manifestation and allotment of machine number, G.D. shall be presented to the Group concerned for assessment/completion of all formalities. The principal Appraiser of the Group shall assess the goods for the purpose of providing indemnity bond and post-dated cheque in respect of the said consignment.
III The G.D. duly assessed shall be submitted to Bonds Section along with indemnity bond and post-dated cheque for detachment.
IV After acceptance of post-dated and indemnity bond submitted on prescribed format, the same shall be kept in safe custody under lock and key by the Appraiser posted for the said purpose. We shall ensure that the demand is raised on time and no postdated cheque is lying expired b. the principal Appraiser (Bonds).
