SUB:             DECLARATIONS REGARDING INCOME TAX ON IMPORT GD

Pursuant to changes regarding withholding taxes made through Finance Act, 2007, this Collectorate has issued a Public Notice No. 22/2007 (A) dated 02.07.2007 (A) dated 02.07.2007, where in guidelines have been provided to importers on the above subject for availing concession / exemption of withholding tax on imported goods. All the assessing officer of this Collectorate are hereby informed that the guidelines as laid down in the aforesaid Public Notice are only to facilitate the importers regarding their declarations on the G.D. Any claim for exemption / concession of withholding tax under' the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, shall be invariably be scrutinized by the assessing officers as are other columns of the Goods Declaration and shall be allowed after due satisfaction, strictly in accordance with the provisions of law and rules applicable in respect thereof.
