The Assistant / Deputy Collector of Customs,

Appraisement (Wharves East / West / AICT / NLCCT / BOML)

Group I / II / III/ IV / V / VI & Custom House,

Karachi.

SUB:    DISREGARD OF THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN PUBLIC NOTICE NO.31/2005 DATED 17.12.2005.

In terms of the captioned Public Notice Para (2), the custom staff posted at exit gates of the wharves is required to check the vehicles for confirmation of declarations and to ensure that no unauthorized goods / articles are being taken out in the vehicle.

2.         It is however observed that in a number of cases, imported vehicles have been allowed exit from custom area though the vehicle name in documents was not correctly mentioned. This fact was noticed at the time of registration of the vehicles. This shows gross negligence on the part of gate staff and also tax control on the part of supervisory officers posted at wharves.

3.          All concerned gate staff and the supervisory officers are advised to ensure that henceforth, no vehicle is allowed exit, without proper checking and tallying the necessary particulars of the vehicle e.g. Name, Chassis No. and Engine No. etc. with the relevant documents and also that no unauthorized goods / article are taken out in the vehicle.

4.         In case of any discrepancy/violation of the instructions, the vehicle may not be allowed to leave customs area and the matter may be reported to the group / import section forthwith for further necessary action.
