OFFICE ORDER NO. 01/2008 

SUB:              PROCEDURE FOR PROCESSING AND CLEARANCE OF CONSIGNMENT OF ALL SORTS OF SCRAP.

In order to further facilitate the trade and to reduce dwell time at port, officer Order No. 04/2007 dated 04.12.2007 is amended and at the end of the first sentence of Para (iii) i.e. “the consignment of scrap shall be de-stuffed and examined 100% at a place specified for this purpose by the concerned custodian”, following sentences are added with immediate effect:

 However, in case of following, 100% inspection but only upto 10% de-stuffing and examination shall be done:

(a)          Importer is an industrial concern.

(b)         Importer and clearing agent both enjoy   clean  history of months with no case of any mis-declaration against them during this period.

(c)          Country of origin is other than UAE.

If discrepancy is found during examination of randomly selected containers, whole consignment will be de-stuffed and examined 100%”.
