CIRCULAR NO. 12/2009

SUB:              COMPLETION AND CORRECT DECLARATION OF IMPORTED GOODS IN THE GOODS DECLARATION.

            Complete and correct description is a pre-requisite for proper assessment of customs duty and speedy clearance. This Collectorate has been emphasizing the importers and clearing agent to discharge their obligation in this regard. A public Notice No. 01/2007(A) was issued to ensure correct and complete description and other specifications in the GD which have bearing on classification, valuation and implementation of Import Policy (copy of public notice enclosed). It has however, been observed that some of the importers are not adhering to the guideline given in aforesaid Public Notice & file GDs with in-complete description.

In order to facilitate the trade and to provide seamless processing of GD’s importer and clearing agents are once again advised to follow the guidelines circulated vide P.N. 01/2007(A) dated; 06.02.2007 in letter and spirit.
