SUB: Examination and Assessment of Ready-made Garments
The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has determined the value for imported garments of China, Indonesia and Thailand origin in terms of Section 25(A) of the Customs Act, 1969 vide Valuation Ruling No. Misc/13/2007-IIIA/ 3151 dated 19-07- 2008. The Assessment officers and staff are directed to ensure strict compliance of the Ruling.
The Unit of measurement (UoM) in PaCCS is standardized as per Tariff UoMs, whereas in the Ruling non-standardized UoMs like dozens have also been used. It is directed to ensure that due to this variation, no erroneous assessment is done and wherever required the conversion may be done as per standardized UoM in the PaCCS.
The examination of theses goods will also be reported in the standardized UoMs and samples duly sealed and signed, where requested by the concerned AC Group, shall be forwarded to ascertain the age group aspect as mentioned in the Ruling.
As per the Valuation Advice, the imports of these goods, other than above mentioned countries of origin, may be made provisionally under section 81 of the Customs Act, 1969. Furthermore, in case of imports of these Goods from UAE, the Certificate of Origin may also be required.
