OFFICE ORDER NO. 01/2011 (A)
To ensure proper monitoring of assessment/valuation of imported goods particularly the items prone to mis-declaration, the following instructions are issued for compliance by all concerned:
i) The Deputy/Assistant Collector Incharge Group shall keep a profile of Appraising Officers found to be involved in repeated incorrect assessments which are later on rectified by the Principal Appraiser /Deputy /Assistant Collector. Such Appraising Officers should be assigned to tasks other than assessments .
ii) Items prone to mis-declaration of value/description be identified by the concerned Deputy/Assistant Collector (Group)/ Examination and special monitoring of their assessment and examination be carried out to plug any revenue leakages through mis-declaration/ under valuation.
iii) Weekly statements regarding cases of incorrect assessment by Appraising Officers be prepared in (Annex-A) and submitted to the concerned Additional Collector for information and monitoring.
iv) List of sensitive items shall be prepared for monitoring of valuation/examination by the concerned Additional Collectors in consultation with Deputy/Assistant Collectors and principal Appraiser.
