PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 02/1983 (APPRAISEMENT)

PRESCRIPTION CHEMICAL

It is notified for general information that only those "Prescription Chemicals" which comply with the following conditions will qualify for classification under heading 30.03:

(i)      These are included in any standard or recognized Pharmacopoeia e.g. the British Pharmaceutical codes, the United States pharmacopoeia the National Formulary of the U.S. or the International pharmacopoeia.

(ii)          They are imported strictly according to the Pakistan national Formulary published under the Drugs Act, 1976 (XXXI of 1976).

(iii)         The imported is certified by the Director General Health, Government of Pakistan, and the relative invoice is endorsed by the said authority.

(iv)         They are importer in packing not exceeding one kilogram. Statement of does, use or method of application etc. indicated on the container will be considered to be put up in forms or in packing of a kind sold by retail for therapeutic or prophylactic use.

(v)          They are imported under monograph indicating the quality and its therapeutic or prophylactic use either by label or by literature, printed or painted directions or instructions on the container. Mere indication such as B.P, B.P.C. or U.S.P. of purity will not alone qualify them as “Prescription Chemicals”.
