PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 17/1993 

A dispute arose about the classification of Blood Collection Tubes meant for hospital uses. The question of classification of these tubes for medical uses has been examined in detail by the PCT Committee of this Custom House. Catalogue produced show that these are polystyrene tubes with molded graduation for accurate filling tightly fitting deep plug caps to avoid leakage; automatically spray filled with anticoagulant.

2.         It is hereby, notified for information of the public in general and the trade in particular that "Plastic blood "Collection Tubes” are correctly classifiable under heading 3926.9090; presently chargeable to duty @ 90% ad valorem and sales tax @ 12.5%.
