STANDING ORDER NO. 01/1998 (EXAM-APPRAISEMENT)
SUB: EXAMINATION/ASSESSMENT OF MISCELLANEOUS GOODS
In order to improve upon the procedures relating to examination & miscellaneous goods imported from free ports, Appraisement of miscellaneous had issued office order 18.03.98-(A) dated 13.03.1998 and Public Notice No. 02/98-(A) dated 18.03.1998. It has been observed that instructions contained in the aforesaid orders/notices are neither being followed by importers/clearing agents hereby the Appraising / Examining staff.
Re-examination staff is once again directed to carry out 100% physical examination of such containerized cargo after complete destuffing so that all the physicals tributes like sported properly in the examination report. After such detailed examination the concerned examining staff i.e. Principal Appraiser and Appraising officer/ Examining staff also execute and undertaking on the proscribed proforma (copy attached) certifying the verification of these tact’s:'
(i) That they have examine100% consignment:-
(ii) That all the contents had been de-stuffed from the container.
(iii) That all the crucial information like detailed description, model No./Part No./art No. quantity, brand, origin etc. have been reported on the bill of entry/attached sheets.
(iv) That the representative samples have been drawn and sealed in their presence for onward dispatch to the concerned group.
(v) That if any discrepancy is found in re-examination of such goods they shall accept responsibility and disciplinary action.
