PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 03/1999 (EXPORTS) 

SUB:  STREAMLINING THE PROCEDURE OF FEEDING OF N.T.N. NUMBERS OFTHE IMPORTER / EXPORTER INTO THE COMPUTER.

In has been observed that the feed of N.T.N. Number into the computer is not done properly by the concerned Key Punch Operator / Data Entry Operator and at times one N.T.N. number is fed into the Computer for two different importers/exporters. In order to avoid this inaccurate feeding of data into the Computer and with a view to streamline the N.T.N. record available in existing export database the following procedure is hereby notified for information and compliance of all concerned.

(i)            At the time presentation of Export / Import document to the concerned Key Punch Operator/Data Entry Operator for feeding the data into the computer, the concerned K.P.O. / D.E.O. shall check whether the N.T.N. Number of the exporter / importer already exists in the export database.

(ii)          In the number has already been fed into the computer he will process the documents as per practice. However in case the N.T.N. Number do not exist, and the importer / exporter has filed their first documents in the Collector, he shall feed the same into the computer after verifying it from a certified copy of the N.T.N. Certificate,

(iii)         All the Clearing Agents are also required to provide certified copy of the N.T.N. certificate in case the N.T.N. number is being fed into computer for the first time.

(iv)         After feeding the same into the computer he shall forward the certified copy of the N.T.N. certificate to A.C. (HQrs) on daily after retaining a copy of the same in the section.

(v)          The A.C. M.I. Yard/AFU/QICT/Bonds shall forward a weekly statement to the AC (HQrs) of all the new N.T.N. Numbers fed by their processing staff during the week.

The Assistant / Deputy Collector (Hqrs.) shall maintain the recode of all the N.T.N. numbers thus fed into the computer and keep all the certified copies of the same received from concerned K.P.O. / D.E.O. in safe custody. They shall also retrieve weekly information regarding all the newly fed N.T.N. number into the computer from P.R.A.L and reconcile the same with the list provided to him. In case any discrepancy / lapse in detected by the AC (Hqrs.) on the part of K.P.O. / D.E.O. with reference to feeding of N.T.N. numbers in the compute, stern action shall be taken against the delinquent official.
