PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 10/1999 (EXPORTS)
It has been observed that in the cases of short shipment the examination staff does not indicate specifically the serial number of packages and items being short shipped. It creates problems at the time of calculation of duty drawback and results in inconvenience for the exporters. In order to overcome the problem it has been decided that hence-forth the clearing agent will affix the stamp of short shipment having the following details on the face of the triplicate and quadruplicate copy of the shipping bills: --
1. Short shipment notice number.
2. Serial number of packages allowed shipment.
3. Serial number of short shipped packages.
4. Value of short shipped items.
5. Value of items allowed shipment.
6. Description of the items allowed shipment.
7. Description of the items short shipped.
2. The examination staff (EO/AO/PA) in addition to writing the comprehensive examination report will also confirm the short shipped declaration of the exporter/clearing agent by signing at the bottom of declaration. The EO/AO and the PA will also sign packing list while indicating the serial number of those items being short shipped and the Assistant / Deputy Collector shall confirm it. All the staff is also required to affix their name and stamp on all official documents being signed by them.
