PUBLIC NOTICE NO.25/2005-(APPG) 

SUB:  PROCEDURE REGARDING ADVANCE FILING OF IMPORT GENERAL MANIFEST. 

In order to streamline, simplify and ensure expeditious clearance of goods, it has been decided that, with effect from 25.1 0.2005, all IGM shall be filed 24 hours prior to arrival of vessel, Under section 43(4) of the Customs Act, 1969, except for vessels coming from Dubai, Jebel Ali, KhorFakkan, Salalah, Fujairah, Bandar Abbas, Mumbai, NhavaShewa, Mundra, Kandla and Mini Qaboos, for which IGM may be filed till twelve hour prior to arrival of vessel.

2.         Shipping company, at the time of advance filing of IGM, shall simultaneously request permission for break bulk required under section 47 on the prescribed format, Permission for grant of break bulk shall stand approved in case of acceptance of IGM, Shipping Agent at his end shall, however, ensure that berth has been specifically allotted by the port authorities for the discharge of whole of cargo meant for Karachi port. They shall also ensure that IGM is being filed on the prescribed format and, in addition, for transshipment consignments, dry port wise cargo breakup, in alphabetical order, is provided in a separate transshipment sheet namely T-sheet. The IGM so filed, shall comprise of separate sheets of cargo types like General Cargo, Afghan Cargo, Personal Cargo and Transshipment Cargo.

3.         Any un-manifested cargo shall not be discharged.
