                              PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 31/2005                                                     

SUB:    CONDONING EXAMINATION OF IMPORTED OLD & USED VEHICLES UNDER SECTION 80(5) OF THE CUSTOMS ACT, 1969.

In order to ensure expeditious, transparent and smooth clearance of old and used automotive vehicles up to 1800 cc, that are chargeable to cumulative scales of duty and taxes under SRO 577(1)/05, dated 06.06.2005 and Imported by overseas Pakistanis under Personal Baggage, Transfer of Residence and Gift Schemes, it has been decided to condone the physical examination of aforesaid class of vehicles in terms of section 80(5) of the Customs Act, 1969.

2.         However, to thwart any possible misuse of aforesaid facility, the custom staff posted at the exist gates of the wharves at the time of pass out from the port area, shall check the said vehicle for confirmation of declarations and shall also ensure that no unauthorized goods/articles are being taken out in the vehicle.
