PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 01/2006

SUB:   PROCEDURE FOR CLEARANCE OF VEHICLE IMPORTED UNDER PERSONAL BAGGAGE, TRANSFER OF RESIDENCE AND GIFT SCHEMES

In order to further promote the policy of the Government to extend maximum facilitation for smooth and hassle free clearance of vehicles imported under the subject schemes, the following amendments are made in Public Notice No. 21/05 dated 29.09.2005 with immediate effect.

For the sub-paras 1 (i), (iii) & (IV), of the aforesaid Public Notice, the following sub­-paras shall respectively be substituted:-

a.      The import / clearing Agent shall file Goods Declaration at Customs Service Center (CSC) alongwith attested photocopies of the documents and the duly filled in annexure as detailed under respective schemes vide Appendix-E of Import Policy Order, 2005-06. 

b.      The principal Appraiser shall countercheck the endorsement of the Appraising officer and in case it is found in order he shall allow the clearance. In case of any objection, the principal Appraiser shall endorse the objection and return the GD to Appraiser for removal of the objection by the Appraiser or by the clearing Agent as the case may be. 

c.      The Group shall ensure that the objection raised is removed on the same day or the objection is communicated to the Clearing Agents / importer within 24 hours.
