PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 05/2007(A) 

SUB:  PROCEDURE REGARDING AUTOMATED PROCESSING OF ITEMS ATTRACTING CUSTOMS DUTY @ 0% TO 5%.

In order facilitate trade for easy and swift clearance of import consignments and reduce Customs dwell time, as a pilot project, it has been decided to process automatically the selected items (Annex-1) attracting Customs. Duty @ 0% to 5%. Following procedure shall be adopted for this purpose:-

i.        Upon electronic filing of the Goods Declarations containing items specified in Annex-1, the system after necessary validation checks shall automatically process the GD.

ii.        Thereafter, hard copies of the GD's processed under this procedure shall be presented in the Cash Section of this Collectorate for allocation / affixing of Cash No. and "out of charge" after payment of leviable duty/taxes.

iii.      The GDs shall then be presented to the concerned Principal Appraiser (Sheds)-for examination and subsequent release as per procedure in vogue.

iv.        The Principal Appraiser (Sheds) may order for 100% examination of any consignment processed under this procedure, provided he has sufficient reasons to believe that the declaration made in respect thereof is doubtful or not correct.

v.       In case of any mis-declaration found / detected the GD be referred back through ADC Shed to the concerned ADC of the processing group, for processing it accordingly.

vi.        GDs wherein any item, other than the ones specified in Annex-I is also declared, shall not be processed under this procedure.

02. This Public Notice shall take effect from 26.02.2007.
