PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 12/2007 

SUB: EXAMINATION OF FABRIC CONSIGNMENTS IMPORTED FROM U.A.E.

To review the import of fabric from UAE, a meeting comprising all stakeholders was held on 16-5-2007 under the chair of Collector of Customs, Appraisement Collectorate, Custom House, Karachi.

2.         To avoid any confusion, it has been decided the henceforth, instead of referring the samples to Fabric Experts Committee, arrangement for the examination of the consignment would be done by the importer or his representative and the consignment would be examined at port by a committee headed by the Assistant/ Deputy Collector of Customs (Terminals) and members of the fabrics committee, constituted in this regard.

3.         Upon arrival of the consignment of fabrics from UAE, the Assistant/Deputy Collectorate of Customs (Terminals) will fix the date for joint examination of the consignment. Consequent to examination, the Committee will communicate its observation with regard to the origin of the fabrics and sent along with samples to Group for assessment and requisite course of action, under the law.
