PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 15/2007-A (III)

SUB: EXAMINATION OF FABRIC CONSIGNMENTS IMPORTEDFROM U.A.E.

To review the import of fabric from UAE, a meeting comprising all stakeholders was held on 16.05.2007 under the chair of Collector of Customs (Appraisement). During the meeting it was deliberated that in view of Public Notice No.08/2007(A) dated 12.03.2007, joint examination by the fabrics experts committee alongwith customs was to be done for textiles coming from UAE. To avoid any confusion, it has been decided that henceforth, instead of referring the samples to Fabric Experts Committee. Arrangement for the examination of the consignment would be done by the importer or his representative and the consignment would be examined at port by a committee headed by the Assistant/Deputy Collector of Customs (Wharves) and member of the fabrics committee, constituted in this regard.

 2.     Upon arrival of the consignment of fabrics from UAE, the Assistant / Deputy Collector of Customs (Wharves) will fix the date for joint examination of the consignment. Consequent to examination, the Committee will communicate its Observation with regards to the origin of the fabrics and sent alongwith samples to Group for assessment and requisite course of action, under the law.
