PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 07 of 2009
SUB: REQUIREMENT FOR PACKING LIST AND INVOICE IN THE IMPORTED CARGO.
Consequent upon issuance of Board's letter C.No.3(l)L&P/05 dated 27.08.2009, the provision of Rule 389, sub-chapter-1 of Chapter XVIII of Customs Rules, 2001 notified vide SRO, 450(l)/2001 dated 18.06.2001, regarding placing of invoice in containers imported consignments, shall become operational w.e.f. 05.01.2009 for all categories of goods except the following:
i. Old and used motor vehicles imported under various schemes
ii. Iron, Steel and aluminum scrap;
iii. Unpack bulk cargo like coal and raw cotton;
iv. Goods imported under DTRE Scheme;
v. Imports under Section 22 of Customs Act, 1969;
vi. Old and used machinery;
vii. Bulk imports of petrochemical
viii. Defence Cargo.
2. The importers are requested to make arrangements that original invoice of the supplier and the packing list accompanies the consignments reaching the port on or after 5th October 2009. Any failure to do so shall be treated as violation of Rule 389 of Customs Rules, 2001 notified vide SRO 450(l)/2001 dated 18.06.2001.
