PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 01/2011 PQ

sub: Submission of vague invoices/packing list in respect of iron and steel sheets/ coils of secondary quality.

          It has been observed that the invoices/packing lists and other crucial import related documents submitted by the importers/clearing agents in respect of import of iron and steel sheets/ coils of secondary quality indicate various PCT headings like 7208, 7209, 7210, 7225 of the Pakistan Customs Tariff. This has repeatedly been done to avoid from any contravention in terms of Section 32 of the Customs Act, 1969. This practice is legally un-warranted and un-acceptable in terms of relevant provisions of Section 25 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with section 32 ibid and tantamount to the conclusion that the descriptions/ declaration/ values and PCTs as declared are not correct in material particular.

2.         Therefore, henceforth, it has been decided that such type of declarations will not be accepted/entertained and such consignment shall invariably be referred for 100% examination before assessment and samples, (where required) shall also be forwarded to the reputed laboratories for test upon importers expense.
