PUBLIC NOTICE NO.02/2012(A)

SUB:  CLASSIFICATION OF SPRAYING / SPRINKLE LORRIES IMPORTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF PARA-10(iv) OF APPENDIX-C OF IMPORT POLICY ORDER, 2009.

Old and used spraying / sprinkle lorries classifiable under PCT Code 8705.9000 having different makes and models (such as Hino, Mazda, Nissan etc.) are being imported as multipurpose chassis fitted with water tank and detachable power sprayer (comprising of electric motor, spray gun / pump and hose pipe). These lorries are importable under Para-10(iv) of Appendix-C of Import Policy Order 2009, irrespective of age. The aforestated facility is, reportedly, being misused as instead of plying as spraying / sprinkle lorries, the water tanks and other spraying equipment is removed after import / clearance for sale in open market and the unit is used as truck.

2.         In order to ward off the misuse of the import facility and to facilitate the genuine importers of spraying / sprinkle lorries, it is hereby informed that spraying / sprinkle lorries having following features will only qualify for classification under PCT code 8705.9000;

a)            Choice of Pump Drives:

1.        Engine / Motors Driven pump operated from inside the vehicle’s driver cabin.

b)            Component Feature:

2.            Spray heads - Fitted at front, mid or rear of the vehicle

3.            Hose Pipe / Hose reels

4.        All functions controlled from chasses cabin with operator control panel.

c)            Tank Construction and Capacity:

5.        Tank shell mounted on entire chassis frame length having capacity of 1,000 gallons or more and made-up of High Strength material.

i)              This public notice shall take effect immediately.
