PUBLIC NOTICE NO.10/2015 (EAST)
Change in consignee / consigner name and address, bill of lading number, port of loading, port of discharge, weight no of packages deletion/addition of containers, container numbers corrections, delivery mode and stuffing status.
Typographical mistakes / errors like missing alphabet in name, or digit in weight, no. packages etc.
2. In order to overcome the delays and further streamline the process of IMG amendment, the following procedure is laid down and henceforth shall be followed with immediate effect:-
3. The shipping agent shall apply in writing to the Deputy / Assistant Collector (MIS) for amendment in IGM through a request letter.
Documents required for amendment
a. The request letter shall be accompanied by the following documents:
(i) Correction advice from the shopper, (if email print out, then must be attested by the shipping agent)
(ii) Original BL, if not surrendered to the shipper.
(iii) NOC from first consignee (in the original consignee is not traceable, an undertaking on Rs. 100/- bond paper shall be submitted by the shipping agent on prescribed format.
(iv) Undertaking from second consignee in whose favor the amendment is to be made on bond paper.
(i) In case of typographical errors/mistakes, the shipping agent shall provide undertaking for such amendments along with original Bill of lading (if not surrendered).
Procedure for processing documents
b. The front desk officer shall only receive such amendment requests from the shipping agent, where all the requisite documents as detailed above are provided/annexed with the application shall be received if any prescribed document is missing.
c. The front desk officer shall check all the documents and if found in order shall put up the amendment request on file to DC-MIS.
d. The DC-MIS after scrutinizing the nature of amendment shall approve the request Penalty of Rs 5000/- and Rs. 10,000/- under section 1656(1) (23) of Custom Act 1969, shall be imposed on file for each typographic errors and other amendments i.e consignee name, address, etc. respectively.
e. The DC-MIS shall amend the required change in the IMG once SWthe shipping agent provides copies of the payment Challan.
4. Once the process of IMG amendment is completed, the file shall be kept by the front desk officer for safe custody and record.
5. This issues with the concurrence of Collector MCC Appraisement (West), Karachi and shall be applicable to IGM amendments pertains to MCC Appraisement (West), Karachi and MCC Appraisement (East) Karachi.
