FBR Registers Over 12.5 Million Businesses Nationwide

A remarkable milestone has been achieved! Official statistics tabled before the National Assembly reveal that the tally of registered businesses and companies under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has soared beyond 12.5 million.

This data underscores a striking surge of 5.3 million additional business taxpayers enrolled over the past three years, signifying a robust upturn in engagement with the formal taxation framework.

Among the regions, Punjab commands the forefront with 8.2 million enterprises, trailed by Sindh with 2.876 million. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa records 818,000 registered entities, whilst Islamabad and Balochistan contribute 467,000 and 221,000, respectively.

These numbers herald a burgeoning shift towards integration into the formal economy, reflecting the government’s determined push to broaden the tax base through innovative reforms and digital registration schemes.
