SECP Proposes Waqf Management Companies Amendment

The Punjab Price Control Department has escalated its aggressive campaign against profiteering, executing 486,455 inspections across the province in a single day and cracking down on violators with stringent measures.

Official data reveals that the operation led to 12,043 fines, 107 arrests, and seven registered cases for overpricing essential goods.

Wheat flour vendors topped the list of offenders, with 1,074 fined, 18 arrested, and four cases filed. Inspections at chicken and meat outlets resulted in 1,911 fines and 16 arrests, while enforcement teams penalized 576 shopkeepers and arrested 13 for inflating roti prices. In the sugar category, 952 fines were issued and 13 arrests made.

Officials affirmed that the province-wide crackdown will persist until prices of critical food staples are firmly regulated.
