The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has unveiled plans to launch an online/e-auction module for non-customs paid vehicles, aimed at bolstering transparency and efficiency in their disposal.
During a follow-up meeting of the high-level committee on tampered and confiscated vehicles, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday, the FBR outlined the proposed system. This module is engineered to promote fairness and maximize revenue generation from auctioning confiscated vehicles.
The FBR has also drafted a new Customs General Order (CGO) for the disposal of tampered and confiscated vehicles. A dedicated sub-committee, responsible for scrutinizing existing laws and policies, finalized the CGO after rigorous discussions, securing approval from the DPM.
Senator Dar stressed that this initiative embodies the government’s dedication to technology-driven solutions, enhancing transparency, safeguarding public resources, and optimizing the auction process for confiscated vehicles.
The meeting included key attendees such as the Minister for Law & Justice, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Chairman FBR, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Information.
