KP Doubles Wedding Hall Tax: Rs50,000 for Big Venues

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has unleashed a massive wedding hall tax hike, doubling the burden on luxury venues to bolster provincial coffers, effective July 1.

KPRA has slashed venues into three brutal categories:

• Category A (>500 guests): Rs50,000 per event — 100% jump from Rs25,000.
• Category B (300–500 guests): Rs20,000 — up Rs5,000.
• Category C: unchanged at Rs10,000.

Defaulters face a vicious 15% service tax penalty.

KPRA declared the crackdown a strategic strike for fiscal muscle and budgetary firepower, ordering all departments to enforce ruthlessly. The overhaul aims to standardize collections and supercharge long-term revenue.
